MoodKit Now Among Exclusive Group of Mental Health Apps Supported by Research

A randomized controlled trial conducted by David Bakker and colleagues in Australia compared MoodKit and two other CBT-based mental health apps (viz., MoodPrism & MoodMission) with a no-app control group in a large (n=226) community sample. Compared to the control group, participants who used MoodKit, MoodMission, or MoodPrism over the course of 30 days experienced significant increases in mental well-being while users of MoodKit and MoodMission experienced significant decreases in depression. The benefits of MoodKit (and the two other CBT apps included in the study) appeared to result, at least in part, from improving users' confidence in their coping abilities. The study appears in the journal Behaviour Research & Therapy

As the developers of MoodKit, Thriveport is very encouraged that the results of this methodologically-sound study support its efficacy in enhancing well-being and improving depressive symptoms and are eager to see if results from other research trials currently underway provide additional evidence for MoodKit's benefits.

From IBD:

"Year by year, the IBD Awards have grown. This year’s entries represented an astonishingly strong survey of innovation around the globe—over 1,700 designs. In the eyes of our esteemed judges, the projects you'll find below were the best of the best. There were only 15 winners anointed in the entire competition; we also crowned about 231 finalists. Each of those projects represent what's best about design today: Big ideas, meticulously thought-out details, and a clear viewpoint about how we live now—and how it could be better. We hope that you’ll dig in and be inspired."

We're excited to announce a great enhancement to Moodnotes: Version 1.2 of the app introduces an "Insights" tab that provides a beautiful at-a-glance dashboard of your journaling activity.

Moodnotes' first iteration of the Insights feature displays four categories of information:

  1. Your total number of mood/journal entries.
  2. The number of journal entries that are "Enriched" entries (i.e., positive mood related).
  3. The number of consecutive days that you've made an entry (i.e., your current "Streak").
  4. The most common thinking traps connected to your negative moods.

We believe this feature brings the feedback provided by Moodnotes to a whole new level. Moodnotes has always helped users to stop and think about their moods and what might be causing them. Now, the Insights feature allows users to quickly gauge what portion of their total entries are geared toward maintaining or promoting positive mood and to better identify which thinking traps they are most prone to, while encouraging them to maintain a daily habit of "checking in" with their mood in order to feel and function at their best.
